The 12th Annual Nantucket Nutcracker
Nantucket Dance Theater is proud to sponsor the 12th annual Nantucket Nutcracker. Featuring local youth dancers, the Nantucket Nutcracker, is a shorter, family-friendly version of the beloved holiday classic.
Join Clara as she encounters dancing snowflakes, candies, and life-sized dolls. Whether this is the first Nutcracker or your 50th it is sure to captivate. Let the music of Tchaikovsky paired with dancers of all ages transport your family into the magical land of the sweets.

Past Events
The Nantucket Dance Festival is week-long celebration of dance with fundraising events that bring renowned dance and music artists from around the world to Nantucket for performance, education and cultural events. Our fundraising efforts directly support year-round dance as part of Nantucket Dance Theater's annual programming, with classes at the Boys and Girls Club of Nantucket, residencies and performances that inspire cultural appreciation in young people. Educational workshops and classes that are part of the Festival and continued throughout the year expand on how dance is integrated into the community and offer important lessons of self-awareness, physicality and artistic expression to the next generation.
The Festival includes programming that emphasizes diverse styles of dance to bring together professionals and students while creating unexpected collaborations with musicians and visual artists.

Treasure Isle
June 1st and 2nd, 2025
Nantucket Dreamland
Treasure Isle is an original ballet featuring island dance students ages 3 - 18! Captain Fynn, along with the fearless navigator Maribel and the intuitive Casperina, sets sail with a lively pirate crew, searching for legendary treasure hidden on an island 30 miles out to sea. The pirates embark on an adventure of excitement, teamwork, and discovery. Their journey is not without peril—Tempestra, the Queen of the Storm, tests their courage with fierce winds and towering waves, challenging their resolve. Amid the chaos, the mischievous crabs provide comic relief. They meet friendly fish and tap-dancing-sailor-seagulls! As they navigate treacherous waters, greet island creatures, and uncover hidden secrets, the pirates are released from the shackles of their material yearning and realize that the true treasure isn’t gold or jewels but the friendships, teamwork, and lessons learned along the way. In the end, the sea calms, Tempestra relents, and the pirates celebrate the greatest discovery of all—the journey itself.
Etoile Competition
and Boston Ballet
Nantucket Dance Theater Performance company went to Boston this winter to compete in Etoile Dance Competition and to see Boston Ballet's Winter Experience. Students were thrilled to get a tour at Boston Ballet! This special opportunity is made possible by our generous supporters!

2024 Guest Artist Residency
We were thrilled to welcome Sara Brians and Kendall Walker to the island for our first summer intensive this past June!

Students took class up to 4.5 hours a day for two weeks! Classes included tap, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, improvisation, and theatre jazz.
​
We are looking forward to planning another exceptional guest artist residency for 2025!
